SIDNEY (SID) ROLAND FILMORE (published on October 09, 2010)

SIDNEY (SID) ROLAND FILMORE, AIIC It is with sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their dearly loved Husband, Dad and Grandpa on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 68 years. Remaining to forever cherish Sid's memory is his wife Sharon (nee Koski); sons, Geoff (Tammy) of Thunder Bay, Greg (Rolyn); daughter Paige of Winnipeg; granddaughters, Sydney and Rielle; sister Barb (Ron) Watton of North Vancouver; and brother-in-law Brian (Linda) Koski of Thunder Bay and their families. He was predeceased by his father and mother-in- law, Sulo and Beryl Koski of Thunder Bay. Sid was born on July 13, 1942 to the late Sidney and Mary Filmore. In his youth he actively participated in the Navy Cadet program at H.M.C.S. Chippewa. In his teen years at Daniel McIntyre Collegiate he excelled in track and field, enjoyed playing football for the Maroons and singing in the Daniel Mac Choir. After graduation Sid pursued his career in the insurance industry retiring after 41 years. He especially enjoyed the social interaction with his peers and attending the meetings of the International Order of the Blue Goose in Thunder Bay. Sid's happiest times were spent close to his wife and family and he encouraged and actively participated in his children's activities. We will all miss his fun loving sense of humour. In compliance with Sid's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private interment will take place at a later date. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. John Rabson and Dr. Tsi Luk for their care for Sid over the years.
