MATTHEW JAMES MATCZUK (published on October 09, 2010)

MATTHEW JAMES MATCZUK A loyal and tender heart stopped beating on October 7, 2010. Matthew Matczuk, youngest son of Serg and Allyson Matczuk, grandson of Olive Fields and Anna Matczuk, brother of Marcus, Michael, Paul, Trish, Kathryn, and Suzanne, nephew of Terry Fields, Walter Matczuk, and Irene Bickerton, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend to many, passed away after a heart wrenching struggle in hospital. Born July 24, 1986, Matthew grew up in Ste-Agathe and LaSalle and spent summers at the family cottage in Matlock. He played hockey, baseball and fishedall the activities one would expect of boy from the prairies. He graduated from the French Immersion program at St. Norbert Collegiate and went on to work in New Zealand and Montreal before beginning his studies at the University of Winnipeg and University College of the North. At the time of his death he was in his second year of Business Administration at Red River College. Matt always reached out to others, whether he was rescuing a bird, a cat, or a dog, or helping a friend in need, Matt never judged. He always sought to understand the person deep inside and treated everyone with dignity and respect. It was his belief that education was the key to unlock the door to better days. He encouraged others to follow his example and to follow their own destinies. The family would like to thank the staff at the Victoria General Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for the care Matthew received and to thank the many friends and relatives who have supported the family through this tragic time. A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, donations in Matthew's memory may be made to Red River College, C306-2055 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0J9 or Three things will last forever: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love. NEIL BARDAL INC. FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200
