REGINALD HENRY BARNES (published on October 09, 2010)



REGINALD HENRY BARNES Reginald passed away peacefully, with family by his side, October 5, 2010 at Deer Lodge Centre. He is survived by his wife Gloria; son Richard Barnes, daughter-in-law Debbie, granddaughter Kristyn Barnes and grandson Kyle Barnes; daughter Lori Robert, grandson Jonathan Robert and wife Marina, granddaughter Angela Anderson and husband David; four great-grandchildren, Heather and Fiona Anderson of England and Landon and Carissa Robert of Surrey, BC, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters, brothers and friends. Reginald was born in Winnipeg September 25, 1923, the youngest of nine children, his parents were Ada and Frank Barnes. His sister Vera Paul helped look after Reginald as a young boy. In June of 1945 he joined the British Navy (Fleet Air Arm) and was posted to the United Kingdom and completed advanced flying training. He flew Seafires and Dauntless aircraft. In 1952 he joined R.C.A.F. Auxiliary 402 City of Winnipeg and flew Harvards and T33 Mustangs. Various other postings included Claresholm, AB and Greenwood, NS, where he flew the Argus. He also spent three years as Air Controller at Halifax, NS. In 1966 Reg joined the Department of Transport Air Regulations conducting flight tests, licencing, etc. until he retired in May 1986. He had many hobbies: working on cars, reading, cycling, travelling, cruises and dancing. In loving memory of my husband Reginald. I lost my life companion, day by day I pray for you as I will walk through life alone. You had a special smile, a special someone I can not replace. We shared more than words can say and now that you're gone that love and caring will never die. Today, tomorrow, my whole life through I will always love and remember you. Your loving wife Gloria At Reg's request, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. We would like to thank all the staff for their kindness and caring on Special Care Unit T3.
