ZLOTA MARGOLIS (published on October 09, 2010)

ZLOTA MARGOLIS (nee GUTNIK) October 8, 1939 September 19, 2010 It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother and grandmother, Zlota Margolis at the age of 70. Zlota was predeceased by her husband Brian and is survived by her children Billy (Christinne) Margolis, Scott (Marnie) Margolis, Jill (Steven) Atnikov. She was adored and will be forever missed by her grandchildren Ethan, Brooke, Lee and Andie. She is also survived by her brother Maurice (Sandra) Gutnik of Calgary. Zlota dedicated and lived her life for her husband, her children and her grandchildren. As a young woman, she had decided to stay at home and raise her children ensuring wonderful meals were always on the table and after school activities were never missed. Never one to judge, she was a woman who treated everyone with respect and became friends with all that she came into contact with. She was truly a vivacious woman, loaded with personality, always smiling and doing her best to make everyone around her laugh. Her zest for life and outgoing personality will be missed by all that knew her. Zlota and Brian fell in love the day they met. They were meant to be together - born on the same day, the same year, and married on their birthdays. They shared a lifetime of happiness and memories together. They were able to travel the world together, spend summers in Gimli with their children and grandchildren and winters in Palm Beach, Florida. Zlota's life changed dramatically with the birth of each of her grandchildren. She was able to see the world through their eyes, spending many hours playing trains, having tea parties, or playing dress up and dance party. Mom, the memories that you have left behind with Ethan, Brooke, Lee and Andie are precious and they are heartbroken by your loss. The family would like to thank Mom's wonderful care givers Tess, Carol, Mei, Aurora and Rosie for their wonderful care and love that they provided to her. Also a special thank you to Penny Aronovitch a dedicated friend who helped maintain her quality of life throughout her illness. Special thanks to Lynne Fineman, Dr. Frame, Dr. Koven, Dr. Vince Taraska and Dr. St. Godard as well as the staff on Weinberg 3 at the Simkin Center. Your care and compassion towards our mother is truly appreciated. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Pallbearers were Billy and Christinne Margolis, Scott and Marnie Margolis, Jill and Steven Atnikov, Ted Solomon and Fraser Aronovitch. Honourary pallbearers were Penny and Brian Aronovitch, Norman Odwak, Arnold Conner and Tess Padilla. Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. We love you Mom, we will miss your smiling face and wonderful laugh.
