LILLIAN BERNICE SMALL (published on October 12, 2010)

LILLIAN BERNICE SMALL (nee TESKEY) Beloved widow of Donald C. Small passed away peacefully on October 7, 2010. She is survived by daughter Margaret Ann (Bob) Miller; son Dr. Rod (Pat) Small; granddaughters Dr. Deborah Miller and Sami Jo Small; grandsons Robert (Alice) Miller, Dr. Luke (Gina) Small and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister Mildred (Hartley) Miller of Calgary. Bernice was born in Winnipeg. She graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and from McKeller General Hospital in Fort William, Ontario as a Registered Nurse, with a Medal for General Proficiency. Bernice and Don were married in Winnipeg in July 1939 and travelled extensively. She was past president of the Winnipeg Kinettes, the Gayette Club, and the Optometrical Ladies Auxiliary. She was a long-time member of St. Andrew's River Heights United Church. She was a charter member of the U.C.W. and was made a Life Member in 1984. Bernice enjoyed bridge with many groups especially the Jolly Girls. She also loved to read. Her greatest joy was being with her family and friends. A private graveside ceremony at St. Vital Cemetery will be held. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Andrew's River Heights United Church, 255 Oak, Winnipeg R3M 3P7, or to a charity of your choice. The family wish to thank Dr. Steven Grass and the Staff of Grace Hospital for their kind and compassionate care.
