MARGARET FRIESEN (published on October 12, 2010)

MARGARET FRIESEN (nee REIMER) It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that at the age of 85 we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Margaret Friesen at the Health Sciences Center on October 9, 2010. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, John Friesen; son Alan Friesen and his wife Joan and their children Alana and Kevin; daughter Joan Cormie and her children John, Andrea and Julie; daughter Valerie Vandal and her husband John and their children Jordan and Joshua; son Robert Friesen and sister Susan Derksen. Margaret was predeceased by her daughter Carol Anne, her parents Henry and Suzanna Reimer and sisters Mary Manning and Anna Lerch. Margaret was born on April 3, 1925 and grew up on the family farm near Horndean Manitoba. After high school graduation she moved to Winnipeg and worked in a sewing factory. She married her sweetheart John Friesen on February 25, 1945. Margaret was a terrific homemaker. She loved cooking, sewing and providing a wonderful home for her family. Once her children were grown she enjoyed working as a nurse's aide at Heritage Lodge. She excelled at her work: she had a passion for working with the elderly. Margaret also enjoyed the fellowship of small church groups and bible study. Then, Alzheimer's cut short their plans for travel during retirement. Funeral service will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street on Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be at 10:30. Interment in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in Margaret's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB. R3C 4G2.
