ALICE EMMA JONES (published on October 12, 2010)

ALICE EMMA JONES (nee MOGGEY) July 5, 1921 October 5, 2010 Alice passed peacefully, with her family at her side at Concordia Personal Care Home October 5, 2010. Alice was the beloved wife of Lionel Jones who passed away in 1967. Alice raised her three children Lina Jones of Kingston, ON, Arlene Lockhart of Baldur, MB and Ed Jones of Winnipeg MB. Dearly loved Granny of eight grandchildren: Kimberly Dimond, Shawn Lockhart, Cynthia Ocampo, Roberta Haines, Tare Raaflaub, Riley, Kelsey and Annie Jones. Alice was a proud great-granny to: Keaton Jones, Carson and Cole Lockhart, Ethan and Maya Ocampo. Alice was born in Stockton, MB July 5, 1921 to Joseph and Susan Moggey. She served as a Cook in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War in Trenton, ON. In 1949, she married Lionel Jones, moving to Ninette, MB where they built a Service Station. In 1958, Alice took training to become a Nursing Assistant at the Manitoba Tuberculosis Sanatorium and worked there for 11 years. After Lionel's passing Alice moved her children to Winnipeg where she trained as a Food Service Supervisor and worked at Kildonan East Regional Secondary School. She retired in 1980 and in 2002 she moved to become a resident at Concordia Place Personal Care Home where she happily lived until her passing. The family extends sincere appreciation to her extended family at Concordia Place for their loving care of their mother over the years. Funeral Services were held in the Willmor Chapel, Glenboro, MB on Friday October 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Harry Friesen officiating. Interment followed in the Hillside Cemetery, Belmont, MB. If desired as an expression of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 824-18th St., Brandon, MB R7A 5B7 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3C 4G2 or to the Paediatric Oncology CancerCare Manitoba in memory of Alice's granddaughter who predeceased Granny at the age of four.
