CYNTHIA LANG (published on October 13, 2010)

CYNTHIA LANG July 20, 1914 - October 3, 2010 At 6:30 p.m. on October 3, 2010, they rolled out the red carpet in Lake Como to welcome their beautiful daughter home. She wore a sumptuous sapphire-blue satin dress with matching heels and glittering gems. She looked and felt - once again - divine. Cynthia died as she lived, with the family by her side. In her 96 years she had many names - Assunta, Cynthia, Nanny, Gaboo, Auntie - and was dearly loved by all. Alongside her love of family and community, she loved the fashion world, and was never happier than when she worked at The Bay's 3rd floor Dress Department and Mirror Room - a position she relished for over 30 years. Cynthia completely engaged with the glory of life. Thanks to her, there was never a more delicious plate of gnocci anywhere, a full moon that went unnoticed or a rose that went unadmired. Through her vision, the cottage at Hawk Lake came about, and because of it, a lifetime of wonderful memories for us all. She was a creator and lover of beauty till the end, who freely shared her love, spunk, humour, grace, fashion-sense and tenacity with all she knew, never fearing the future or change. Her legacy survives through her children Colin Lang (Maria) and Maureen Rae (James); grandchildren Tara Lang (Tyler), David Lang (Clare), Shauna Rae (John) and Jennifer Rae (Jim Mikelait); also great-grandchildren Russell and Lily. The Lambert family were as devoted to her as she was to them - her niece Nancy and husband Bert Lambert and their children - Nadine Vickery (children Chantal and Branden), Christine Milberg (Greg; children Carson and Cole) and Wayne Lambert (Corinne; children Morgan, Macy and Mia). She leaves us to rejoin her husband Mac, her sisters Mary, Grace, Amelia, Angelina and brothers Albert and Sammy. Our sincere thanks to the caring, compassionate staff of Vista Place Lodge and the Victoria Hospital during her final weeks. Service to be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Cemetery, memorial to follow at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined, however a donation to the charity of your choice in her name should you wish. We are ever grateful and immeasurably blessed for the gift of her love, her infectious enthusiasm for life, and a lasting memory of those incredible blue eyes Ti amiamo, bella.
