DAVID TAYLOR MACKERETH (published on October 16, 2010)

DAVID TAYLOR MACKERETH 1946 - 2010 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at his residence, finally at peace after a brave struggle with ALS. David will be forever loved and remembered by his son, Kelly (Cathy), grandchildren: Katelyn and Abigail; and daughter Kimberly (Jamie), grandchildren: Megan and Gavin; brother Ted (Heather); and sister Maxine (Barry) and all extended family and friends. David was predeceased and is now reunited with his parents, Albert and Ester; and brothers, Bill and Donald. David was born in Thunder Bay, ON and moved with his family to Winnipeg as a small child. At an early age, he developed an interest in cars and auto mechanics which led to a career as a mechanic with the City of Winnipeg Transit. David enjoyed spending time with his kids on camping trips to BC, fishing, hunting and sharing ice cream cones. He was a member of the MSRA and built numerous cars throughout the years. He retired in 1997 to Kaslo, BC to spend time with his parents. While in Kaslo, he broadened his interests and got his motorcycle licence taking a month long trip to the Yukon. He became an avid archery champion, curler and developed a special interest in ATV's. He enjoyed his trips up the mountains. In 2008, David returned to Winnipeg to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. Although the time with him, after his return, was short, it was a time that was cherished by all of us. Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the ALS Society of Manitoba. Special thanks to the ALS Society and to the staff at Brummit - Feasby House for all their care and kindness. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550
