WILLIAM (BILL) LAWRENCE MEDAL (published on October 16, 2010)

WILLIAM (BILL) LAWRENCE MEDAL Suddenly, with deep sorrow the world has lost a bright star. Bill passed away at his home in East Selkirk on October 12, 2010. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne. He will be missed by all his aunties, uncles and cousins. An important part of Bill's life was his very dear friends which he considered to be his brothers and sisters. He enjoyed each one's time and all their uniqueness. They gave him much happiness throughout his life. Bill began his working career with his relatives in the market garden at the age of 14. He often related fond memories of this period in his life. He went to school in East Selkirk and proudly graduated from Selkirk Collegiate. Bill followed his father's footsteps into MRM, retiring on July 1, 2009 with 37 years service. Here he felt a kinship with all his mill compadres. Bill went through life with a unique talent of finding the positive qualities in everyone. He loved them all. Bill's legacy to us will be his passion for life, his spirited ways and his love for his fellowman. He taught us all how to have a good time, love each other and live in the moment. Bill treasured each and every one of you. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. Memorial prayers will be held on Sunday, October 17 at 8:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. also in the chapel with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at the East Selkirk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
