WALTER EARL MARSH (published on October 16, 2010)

WALTER EARL MARSH April 11, 1937 - October 11, 2010 In the early hours of Monday, October 11, 2010 Walter Marsh of Selkirk, MB passed away at the Selkirk Hospital at the age of 73 years with his family at his side. Walter served at Stoney Mountain Penitentiary for almost 25 years and also worked for several years with Indian and Northern Affairs. He loved fishing and the outdoors, flying and had his pilots license for a time. Walter had a passion for music and being self taught in piano and guitar, loved to play for family and friends when the chance arose. He also had many stories from his younger days playing blues and country music at different local venues. Walter was a happy man who liked to make people smile. He also loved hockey, having coached his son's hockey team and took great pleasure in taking his granddaughters Camille and Stephie to the local Steelers games. He was always eager to lend a hand and offer fatherly advice when needed. We shall miss him always. Walter was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Nettie Marsh, and his brother William. Surviving is his wife Gwenyth, his son Ron (Val), daughter Karen (Dan), his stepsons Jason (Jacquie), Jeff (Deann). He had nine grandchildren. Cremation has taken place, and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the St. Boniface Research foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
