MARGARET RUTH DAVIS (published on October 25, 2010)

MARGARET RUTH DAVIS (Formerly MINNIE) (Formerly WOOD) August 12, 1952 - October 22, 2010 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ruth passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 22, 2010 at the Stonewall Hospital. Remaining to forever cherish Ruth's memory are her children Holly (Kent), Dallas (Hayley), Charlene (Ron); parents Stan and Anne Davis, grandchildren Brooke, Emerson, Adrian, Abigail and Paige; brothers Darryl (Maureen), Dale (Lisa), Darrin; and partner / friend Kent Wood. Mom was born August 12, 1952 in Neepawa, Manitoba. Her schooling began as far north as Churchill, Manitoba, then eventually continued in Winnipeg where she graduated from Charleswood Collegiate. She then furthered her education at Red River Community College, completing a course in accounting. After finishing up her education, she moved to Thompson, Manitoba with her family, where she met and married Warren Minnie and had three beautiful children. Mom was an avid sports fan, her favourite athletes were her kids. Mom ran nonstop with Holly, Dallas, and Charlene to hockey, ringette, gymnastics, baseball and soccer. Her car never had a chance to rest. Mom had numerous passions, gardening, crocheting, knitting, cooking and most of all playing games. Mom's most treasured part of her life was her family and she was extremely proud of the adults they have become. Mom's passion and love for her children and grandchildren was undeniable as she crocheted blankets, scarves, toques and mittens to keep them warm. The family wants to express their special thanks to Dr. Macek and nurses at the Stonewall Hospital. Ruth had her favourite nurses, Nicki, Lisa, Sandy, Kim, and Ellen who made her remaining days so peaceful. And a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk of CancerCare Manitoba. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held. Interment will take place in the Stonewall Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Palliative Care Stonewall in Ruth's name, 589 3rd Ave. South, Stonewall, Manitoba R0C 2Z0. MY FAMILY IS MY STRENGTH - Mom (Ruth) In celebration of Ruth's life, there will be a gathering on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Club Room at the Stonewall Legion. All are welcome.
