PHYLLIS HEINRICHS (published on October 30, 2010)

PHYLLIS HEINRICHS Peacefully, with her family at her side, our mother went to be with her Saviour on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at the age of 81. Mom was born to Albert A. and Susan Karlenzig in the RM of Morris on April 14, 1929, and grew up in the Kronsweide area near Lowe Farm. She married our Dad, Dick Heinrichs on October 12, 1947. They lived in Winnipeg, B.C., Cartwright, Lowe Farm and Rosenort. Their retirement years were spent in Morden and Winnipeg. Mom and Dad were baptized in Abbotsford, BC during the winter of 1948. Her faith played an important role in her life. They made the Emmanuel Gospel Church their home church when they moved back to Lowe Farm in 1949. Mom was a wife and partner to our Dad for 60 years, a mother of six, grandmother of 19 and a great-grandmother of 20. In her later years a failing memory made life difficult. Mom's last years were spent in the Morris Lodge and then Meadowood Care Home. We are thankful to the staff who showed her care and compassion and also to those who came to spend some time with her. Mom is survived by her six children and their families. Donald (Alvina) Heinrichs, Elaine (Art) Chepil, Jim (Marj) Heinrichs, Janet (Dennis) Brandt, Karen (Vern) Hamill and David (Lori) Heinrichs. She is survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren as well as one brother Albert (Mary) Karlenzig. Mom was predeceased by her husband Dick Heinrichs in June, 2008 and by three grand-children, Jonathon, Tom and Rachel. She is also predeceased by two sisters and one brother. There will be a viewing service Sunday, October 31 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main Street. A private family burial will take place on Monday, November 1 at Lowe Farm cemetery followed by a celebration of life service for friends and family at Friends Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.
