ROSE ESTHER COHEN (published on October 30, 2010)
ROSE ESTHER COHEN (nee WERB) Rose Esther Cohen (nee Werb, September 22, 1920) died suddenly in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on September 27, 2010, leaving surviving her, her brother Neil Werb (Rachel), Los Angeles, their three children and families; her three daughters, Cheryl Ashley (Michael Nozick), Marsha Cohen (Michael Mendelson), Debby Cohen (Greg Mauro); and her grandson Robert Kettner. Rose was a lady - a strong, private, stoic woman who was modern, well-read, tolerant, bright and sports-minded. She appreciated good humour and loved the internet. She was an artist, most recently working on a needlepoint picture for a charity quilt. Her friends were close friends. Rose loved her family and they loved and respected her. She spent 60 wonderful years with her loving husband, Barney, who predeceased her. The family extends a special thanks to Leilani and her daughter Queenie, who helped make Rose's last days much easier; and a special thanks to Neva. Rose will be sorely missed. Donations may be made to Tides Canada Foundation / LAM Canada, 400 - 163 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 1H5. |
