OLGA CONNOR (published on November 27, 2010)

OLGA CONNOR It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Olga Connor, beloved Mother and Grandmother. After a courageous battle with cancer, at 89 years young, Olga left us peacefully on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Olga is survived by daughters, Deborah (Jim) Kirkland and Sandra Connor; son Gregory (Allison) Connor; granddaughters, Sheena (Jordan) and Tara Kirkland. She was predeceased by husband Dr. E.S. Connor; parents, Stephen and Anna Tuchak; brother Roman and sister Mary. Born a Tuchak in the Ukraine in 1921, Olga had many fond memories growing up on the family farm. The Tuchaks moved to Canada in 1937 and she was always grateful to her parents for keeping her out of harm's way (Second World War). Independent Olga left the family farm in Saskatchewan in 1939 and travelled to Northern Ontario, where she met the love of her life, Dr. E.S. (Bert) Connor. They had a wonderful life together, raising children, fishing and curling. She added lots of life to the little mining town of Pickle Crow, where she lived until 1962, when she lost her beloved husband. Moving to Winnipeg in 1963, Olga devoted her life to being a loving Mother, making sure that all three children were well brought up and well educated. She worked at the Grace Hospital, where she dedicated herself to making the ICU as good an experience as possible for patients and staff. Olga curled for 60 years, until she was in her 80's. She loved the game and was a great skip. On Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Olga's Funeral Service will be held in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at the Grace General Hospital for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Olga's memory to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7. Mother, We'll Miss You Always.
