GERALDINE HARIETT BURNS (published on January 04, 2011)

GERALDINE HARIETT BURNS On December 31, 2010 at Oakview Place Extendicare, Gerry passed away with her children Kathleen and Donald (Sarina) at her side. Gerry was predeceased by her husband George in 1986. Surviving Geraldine is sister Sharon Tysz in Fort Frances and several nephews and nieces, grandchildren James (Pam), Corey, Chelsea and Samantha, as well as three great-grandchildren Joshua, Jordan and Jada. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends. Canada Safeway employed Gerry where she worked for more than 30 years. She took pride in her strong work ethic and great pride in her family. She was a doting grandmother to Jimmy and Corey while they were growing up. Geraldine and George were members of Charleswood Golf Course for many years. She was an active member of the Rockwood Legion and she enjoyed the fellowship of the St. James Legion when George was alive. Geraldine was a member of the Jubilee Chapter of the Eastern Star and was honoured to carry the flag. Gerry was also a member of the Ladies Western Bowling League (2003 to 2004). She will be missed by those who knew her. Gerry had a gentle demeanor but proved to be a tough cookie , was a woman of few words never ever wanting to rock the boat , it was always important for her to get along . Even in the last years of her journey staff said, she was never any trouble, a unique woman, very strong . Our family would like to thank her nurses and staff at Oakview Place Extendicare for their compassionate care. Thank you for your kindness - you truly are angels. A small, private memorial will be held. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
