MARY ELIZABETH MAYTWAYASHING (published on January 04, 2011)



MARY ELIZABETH MAYTWAYASHING (GOSDEN) Blue Thunderbird Woman Peacefully, on January 1, 2011, with her family by her side, Mary Maytwayashing, aged 51 years of Ashern, MB, went to be with her Lord and creator. Mary was born on July 22, 1959 in Eriksdale, MB. Mary lived in British Columbia for a few years where she met Mike and later married him after moving back to Manitoba and to Lake Manitoba First Nation. She ran a small business in Ashern before her illness took a toll on her and she was forced to close it. Mary would call her daughters Barb and Lauren every day and she especially enjoyed spending time with them and their babies. Mary and Mike fostered Denise and Michelle Acoby and Cherry Maytwayashing in their home whom they loved like their own. Mary enjoyed drawing and sketching and doing crafts. She liked maintaining her appearance, loved jewellery and always wore matching accessories. She enjoyed playing bingo and slot machines, reading, listening to music and dancing. Mary and Mike won many dance contests while courting. She leaves to mourn and cherish in her memory her husband Mike; children Lauren (Trevor), Barbara (Dale), Christine and Mark (and his five children); sisters Sharon (Jack), Barbie (John), Marlene, Lynn, Myna (Larry); grandchildren Shiloh, Eric, Hayden, Donny and Courtnay; godchildren Derek Maytwayashing, Bethany Maytwayashing and Amber Maytwayashing along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and good friends too many to mention. Mary was predeceased by her parents Christine (1976), Allan (1995); brothers Roger and Ronnie (1994), Lambert (1998) and Dave (2009); sister Cathy (2008); son Michael James (1983); nephews Allan and Marcus Maytwayashing, Kirby Choken and Daryl Traverse and her niece Kristen. Wake service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at the Lake Manitoba First Nation Band Hall. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Lake Manitoba First Nation Band Hall with Mary Crate officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba First Nation Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Judy Hall, Earl Paul, Don Jones, Bill Taylor, Matthew Paul and Jeff Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law Dale Paul, Trevor Campbell and all her grandchildren. Crossbearer will be her husband Mike.
