GERHARD AMMETER (published on January 04, 2011)

GERHARD AMMETER 1923 - 2010 Peacefully, while spending the holidays at the home of his brother, Eric, Gerhard passed away on the afternoon of December 29, 2010. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Pamela Rose Campbell (Dave) and Kathryn Marie Harrison (Wayne), grandchildren Elisha (Angela), Catie (Curtis), James, Rosa, Jessie (Courtney), Deanna, Ryan and Elliot and special great-grandchild Berlyn. He is also survived by brothers, Holde (Silvia), Roland (Lydia), Eric, sister Trudy (John) and sister-in-law Alwyn. He was predeceased by his son Eugene, brother Hank, and his parents, Gottfried and Rosa. Gerhard enjoyed many talents, having built several homes throughout his life. He very much enjoyed gardening, reading and watching the wildlife in his back yard. His greatest pride, after his grandchildren, was the successful restaurant, The Swiss Coffee House, which he owned and operated in Brandon for many years. After retiring from the restaurant business, Gerry moved to Virden, Manitoba, a community which welcomed him and where he made many new friends. In keeping with Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. Throughout his lifetime, Gerry enjoyed the kindness of many people, too numerous to mention here and the family wishes to express sincere gratitude to each and every one of them. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1101 - 191 Lombard Ave., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 0X1. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
