ABE WIEBE (published on January 27, 2011)

ABE WIEBE Arthur Abe Wiebe passed away on January 25, 2011 at the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home at the age of 87. Left to cherish Abe's memory is his youngest brother Edwin (Ollie) Wiebe and his sister Doris (Rudy) Schmeichel and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Abe was predeceased by his Dad, Henry Wiebe July 2, 1967, his mother Susanna Wiebe September 13, 1982, by his brother Elmer Wiebe July 27, 2004 and by his brother Henry Wiebe July 23, 2005. Abe was born at Gretna, MB, November 9, 1923. His parents purchased a farm at St. Joseph, Manitoba where he spent his early years on the farm and received some of his early education at the Langevin School. In 1953 Abe began his career as a Winnipeg Transit street-car operator and bus driver for 30 years of continuous service. Abe had a strong saving faith in Jesus Christ his Lord and Saviour. Abe was water baptized November 6, 1960 by Reverend I.W. Redekopp of Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church where he became a member, also singing in their choir. Abe's latter years were of tremendous tangible encouragement to Waves of Glory Church, its vision and leadership. To Abe we speak the promise of Rev. 15:13 Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. A special thanks to the excellent care given to Abe at the Bethania Mennonite Care Home. Funeral for Arthur Abe Wiebe to be held on Saturday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Waves of Glory Church at 364 Furby Street in Winnipeg with Pastor Edwin Wiebe officiating.
