EDWARD BYINGTON (published on March 05, 2011)

EDWARD BYINGTON It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Edward Byington, at age 61 at the Health Sciences Centre on March 2, 2011. Edward is survived by wife Lucille (nee Laberge); children Selena, Terry (Jennifer), Connelly and step-children Lucy (Mark), Brent (Mel) and Jeanette. He is also survived by brother Dave (Gale) and sister Nancy, along with several grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, one surviving aunt and other family members. Ed was born and raised in Kenora, Ontario. During his younger years, he spent a lot of time fishing, hunting, trapping, guiding and Diamond Drilling. Later on, Ed found his strength in working at a halfway house in Kenora, where he eventually worked his way up to Director' until 1995, when he decided to move to Winnipeg. He then worked as a well respected employee, as a Life Skills Worker, with the Salvation Army for 15 years. It is when he came to Winnipeg that he met his wife Lucille, during many coffee encounters at the old' Salisbury House in St Vital. They married soon after and lived a happy and fulfilled life until his passing. He will be loved and missed by all. In keeping with Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, March 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
