ELSA GUDRUN HALLDORSON (published on March 05, 2011)
ELSA GUDRUN HALLDORSON (nee Nelson) 1924 - 2011 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mum, suddenly at her home on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Carla (David) and her beloved grandsons, Andrew, Ryan and Eric. She also leaves two brothers, Earl and Robert as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Elsa was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Margit Nelson as well as brothers, Adolf, Olaf, Rolf and sister Margaret. Mum was born to Norwegian immigrants who came to Canada in 1913. Elsa Gudrun was extremely proud of her Norweigan heritage, evident in her handiwork, baking and artwork displayed in her home. She was also a proud Canadian and lifelong St. James resident, often discussing the virtues of Canada with passion. Her positive attitude shone brightly as she experienced significant health issues over the years. Family was the great love in Mum's life. Amma enjoyed watching her grandson's sporting events, school plays and concerts. Her three grandson's meant the world to her, and her to them. She was an avid reader, keeping us all up to date on world and local events, as well she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
