SUSAN A. DAVIES (published on March 05, 2011)

(SUSAN) A. DAVIES (nee DUECK) 1922 - 2011 Susan Davies of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed peacefully away at the age of 88 at Concordia Hospital on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 1:15 a.m. She is predeceased by her parents and 11 siblings. Left to cherish Susan's memory are her loving husband and best friend, Lloyd Davies of Winnipeg; and her daughter, Sharolyn Faye and her husband, Len Van Beveren of East Selkirk, and grandson, Lloyd; and, by her son, Robert Lloyd Davies and his wife, Cheryl of Thompson, Manitoba and two granddaughters, Suzanne and Katherine. Susan was born October 9, 1922 in a small farmhouse in Rosenhoff, MB, the youngest daughter of Abram and Aganetha Dueck. She graduated from Winnipeg Bible Institute in 1950 and was married April 14, 1951. Susan and Lloyd were named Alumnus of the Year for Providence College Seminary in 2003. Susan was a seamstress for Western Garment, and a successful Fuller Brush and Avon saleswoman for 20 years. She loved doing the Winnipeg Free Press Jumble puzzles, winning the $100.00 prize on at least one occasion. She was involved in the Canadian Sunday School Mission's Ladies Auxiliary, serving on the executive for at least 20 years. She served on the Providence College Ladies Auxiliary executive for five years. Susan sang in the Bethesda Church Choir, and taught Sunday School for 24 years. She was involved in the Good News Club on Jarvis Street. Susan enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, reading, and gardening. She loved animals and donated regularly to the Humane Society. Most of all, Susan cherished her family, taking the time to write, phone and visit with them as much as she could, including 50 visits to Thompson. Susan's favourite passage of Scripture was Psalms 139. We wish to thank the doctors and nurses who tended to Susan during her life and especially those at Concordia Hospital who cared for her at the end. Many thanks go to the family and friends who visited Susan in the hospital and sent cards and flowers. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Gimli Bible Camp, Box 1579, Gimli MB R0C 1B0. A funeral service has been arranged for 1:00 p.m. at Bethesda Church, 1350 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg. Viewing will precede the service at the church starting at 12:00 p.m. Following the funeral service, there will be a reception in the lower auditorium, and an interment at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens at 4477 Main St. for those who wish to attend.
