| SHIRLEY ALICE BURKE (nee SAURETTE) August 14, 1935 - March 1, 2011 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley Alice Burke on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 75. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Rene and Leila Saurette, brother Maurice, sisters Marlene and Marion; she will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by John; daughters Sharon Common (Ray) of Fort St. John, BC, Mona (Wayne) Genik of Winnipeg, Cindy (Don) Siemens, Sioux Lookout, ON; sons David (Tammy) of Winnipeg and Darrin (Tara) of Cranbrook, BC; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren as well as her brother Raymond Saurette and her sister Agnes (Wayne) McGowan and many nieces and nephews. Shirley took great satisfaction in spending time with her children and grandchildren as they meant a lot to her. A strong woman with a big heart she always wanted the best for everyone and was always ready to help out, just listen or share a story. Her family was her life. Her kind smile and warm words will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank mom's neighbours Margaret and Ray Roman for their kindness and help over the years - you were good friends to her. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, cremation has taken place and a reception celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, March 6 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association Manitoba, 629 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
