RODERICK HOSSACK (published on March 28, 2011)

RODERICK HOSSACK Roderick Hossack, age 97, passed away peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital on March 24, 2011 after a brief illness. Rod was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; sisters Dorothy, Grace; and brothers Jim, George and Lawrence; and son-in-law David. He leaves his children David (Ruth) Hossack, Dorothy (Jack) Martin, Bev Pyper and Jessie (Dennis) Bedard; sister Evelyn Gratton as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout his life Rod was always focused on his family and was always part of the lives of his children and their families. Rod retired from the Manitoba Telephone System after a successful career as a charge hand in their painting and decorating division. Rod was an avid reader throughout his life. He volunteered with the Children's Hospital Book Market for many years and always enjoyed taking trips to the library and exchanging books with friends and family. His life with his beloved Dolly was full and rich, even in times when they had little and worked hard to support their growing family. Rod loved to travel and was often seen enjoying brisk walks through Kildonan Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their care. A private family service has been arranged. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Rod to Friends of the Winnipeg Public Library, 251 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 3P5.
