LOUISE ALLARD (published on April 13, 2011)

LOUISE ALLARD (nee ROCAN) It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of Louise, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on April 9, 2011 at Foyer Valade at the age of 94 years. After a long and happy life with family and friends, Mom peacefully slipped away with her daughters at her side, as she passed from our hands into the hands of our Lord. Mom was born on July 19, 1916 and married Dad (Charles), lovingly referred to by her as man on June 29, 1946. Their love and devotion to each other lasted 53 years until Dad's untimely death on April 21, 2000. She was an inspiration to all who met her because of her positive outlook on life and strong will. You never dared to tell her she couldn't do something because it was like waving a red flag in front of her. She persevered until she succeeded and would simply smile and say I did it . Mom was a homemaker extraordinaire. She cooked, sewed, and worked alongside Dad on their numerous renovations and projects for themselves and for us. Mom, you were a shoulder to cry on, a comforting arm around us, a woman of patience and a tower of strength. Her unwavering faith in God helped her overcome numerous illnesses throughout her life. Mom, you've made our lives so much richer by simply being yourself. Your loss is a void that can never be filled; however, our only consolation is knowing that you and Dad are now together forever. We will miss you for eternity. Mom's motto was I've had a wonderful life . She had no regrets and lived her life through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an incredible memory, often reminding us of upcoming or past events in her life. Mom had the ability to make you believe you could accomplish anything you set your mind to do. Mom was grateful for having had the opportunity to see her grandchildren marry and start their own lives and to play a huge part in her great-grandchildren's lives. Louise is survived by her loving family; daughters, Yvonne and Lucille (Jerry), grandchildren Marc (Adrienne), Janine, Cory (Estefania); great-grandchildren Aryanna and Erica; brother Maurice (Jeanne), sisters-in-law Doris and Georgene, brother-in-law Ralph and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Alphonsine and Maxime, her husband Charles, sisters Jeanne, Yvette, Denise, Marcelle, Laure; brothers Maxime, Ernest and Paul. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Timothy Parish, 135 John Forsyth Road, on Friday, April 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing from 1:30 p.m. until time of service. Private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3L 0K6. You can shed tears that she is gone, Or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open Your eyes and see all that she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't See her, or you can be full Of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow And live yesterday, or you can be Happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her And only that she's gone, Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, Be empty and turn your back, Or you can do what she'd want: Smile, open your eyes, love and go on. SHE HELD OUR HANDS UNTIL GOD HELD HERS We love you and miss you Mom - More than words can say, We know... You love us more.
