CHARLES (SCOTTY) ALBERT CROSSAN WOOD On Saturday, April 9, 2011 Charles passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's at Oakview Place Personal Care Home at the age of 77 years. Left to forever cherish Charles' memory is his wife Heather Wood; sons Bruce, Robert, Brad, Jason; daughters-in-law: Debbie and Nora; grandchildren Katrina, Marlee, Samantha, Charlie, Gage, Noelle and Tatum. Born April 29, 1933 in Renton, Scotland Charles immigrated to Canada in 1954 landing in Montreal. Making his way from Montreal, he began his career as a painter and decorator for the City of Winnipeg Hydro in Pointe Du Bois, Manitoba. He met his wife Heather and they shared 52 full years of marriage together. Later Charles joined the City of St. James Fire Department on August 1, 1961. He retired a Captain with the City of Winnipeg Fire Department with 33 years of service August 7, 1994. Charles had many interests including carpentry, golfing, curling, fishing, hockey, and spending time at the cottage. He was an active community member serving as a hockey coach and on the executive board of Crestview Community Centre. His contributions to the community earned Mayoral awards for Selfless Dedication and a second for Leadership and Service to the Community . On Friday, April 15, 2011 Charles' Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue. A Special thanks is extended to all those that cared for Charles at Oakview Personal Care Home and Deer Lodge Centre. In lieu of flowers donations in Charles' memory may be made to the Parkinson's Society, is gratefully acknowledged.
