MARC EDMOND TURENNE (published on September 08, 2011)

MARC EDMOND TURENNE It is with great sadness that the family announce the tragic passing of Marc on September 2, 2011 at the age of 54, doing what he loved to do with peace in his heart. Marc will be lovingly remembered by his partner Anne-Marie Thibert; children, his children Kristian (Maegan) and Danielle Duperron (Ty); and stepchildren, Julien and Riel Guénette. He is survived by his mother Lucille Turenne (née Préfontaine); brothers, Gerry (Lorraine), René (Pauline), Pierre (Joanne); sisters, Jeanne Ruest (Maurice), Michelle Hoger (Jim), Rachelle Smith, Suzanne (Jean-Luc Lavigne), Monique Hutchison (Brent); sister-in-law Vivian, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and friends who loved him dearly. He will also be lovingly remembered by Lawrie and Yvette Thibert and the Thibert family. Marc was predeceased by his father Denis, brother Bernard and brother-in-law Cam. Marc was proudly the only Quebec-born of his siblings when his father was stationed in Ste-Foye. The family returned to St. Boniface where Marc attended Ecole Provencher and then Collège Secondaire. After attending RRTC Marc realized a dream of a career with Radio-Canada, following in his brother Bernie's footsteps. He spent 10 years in Regina, where his children were born, and then transferred to Vancouver where he eventually became the Regional Operations Manager of CBC Radio throughout BC. Upon leaving CBC, followed by a short tenure at UBC, and with his children grown, Marc was encouraged to start anew and return to his Franco-Manitoban roots in Winnipeg. His most recent venture was taking ownership of a home inspection business. It was here that Marc found a new family in la Brigade de la Rivière Rouge, rediscovering his love of the outdoors, canoeing and his heritage. Marc also found love with his soulmate Anne-Marie. Marc will always be remembered for his gentleness, kindness, sharp wit, dry sense of humour, hearty laugh, generous spirit, great strength and incredible generosity. The family wishes to thank the community of Albert Beach, especially the Kleinschmit and Lafond families, Cst. Christian Grondin and other RCMP members, and all emergency and rescue personnel who assisted in recovery efforts. A celebration of Marc's life is planned for Saturday, September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald, St. Boniface. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marc Turenne Memorial Fund at the Caisse Financial Group.
