PAUL ZEATON (published on September 08, 2011)

PAUL ZEATON It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dearly loved Father, Gigi, and Great-Grandfather Paul on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the age of 90. A lifelong resident of Winnipeg, Paul was a man who never hesitated for a moment to put his family first. The buttons on his shirt burst with the pride he felt from being an active Gigi. From travelling across the U.S. to attend weddings, graduations, and birthdays, to sitting on the sidelines and in the audience watching his grandchildren doing what they loved, he was always there for us. Dad was blessed with a zest for life. Whatever he tackled, he gave it his best shot. From helping his son Bob build his cottage at Lundar Beach, to visiting his daughter Susan in Boston to see his grandkids, to organizing many a round of golf at Pine Ridge, to planning those infamous March trips to Hawaii, he was always there for us. Dad was always willing to lend a helping hand and was known as the master of make do. From finding a rare part in his beloved workshop, to being an on-call handyman 24/7, to learning the ropes in the church kitchen to help make thousands of perogies, he was always there for us. Dad was a humble person who was wise beyond his years. Anyone who asked a question would get a thoughtful answer. From sharing his Depression era stories through the voice of a man who lived it, to providing historical insight on his vast collection of Ukrainian Orthodox music, to simply discussing the day's news, politics, and sports, especially those darn Detroit Tigers , he was always there for us. Leaving a massive void in our lives, he will be deeply missed by his son Bob and his wife Dorothy, his daughter Susan and her husband Arthur, his seven grandchildren, Christine, Laurie, Karin, Gregory, Edward, Adam, and Ellen, and his five great-grandchildren Alexander, Cole, Reagan, Owen, and Nathan. He will also be sadly missed by his dear companion Anne, many nephews, nieces, and dear friends. Prayers will be sung at 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 9 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Mary the Protectress, 820 Burrows Ave. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 10 also at the Cathedral. Services will terminate at the church. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Gregory, Edward, and Adam and his nephews Howard, Rod, Guy, Raymond, and Joshua. Paul, our Father, Gigi, Great-Grandfather, and Uncle, we love you. You have always been the centre of our family and a dear friend to so many. We take comfort in knowing you are in peace with your dear wife of 54 years, Stella, your parents Peter and Anna, brothers Walter, Adam and Frank, and sisters Pauline and Jean. We thank you for so many precious memories that will remain deep in our hearts with us forever. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
