CLARENCE ALEX HUNTER (published on September 08, 2011)

CLARENCE ALEX HUNTER (CAL) 1932 !2011 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Cal Hunter. He passed away peacefully at his home, after a lengthy illness, with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Myrna, his children, Gerry, Shawn (Dave), Scott (Carmen) his stepchildren, Rhonda (Ron), Cindy (Harold), Sonya, Karen (Rick); grandchildren, Jamie (Naomi), Terry, Michael, Corinne, Sabrina (Jamie), T.J., Jason (Jen), Krysta, Lee, Alana, Mia (Glen), Robynn, Tamara (Bob), Dayna, Sheena, Nick (Lauren), Wade and Bradley; great-grandchildren, Damon, Ridley, Tatianna, Nisa, Barett, Skye, Jayla, Robert, Ellyssa and Braydon. He had one brother John (Helen.) and numerous nieces and nephews. Cal was predeceased by his first wife (Janice), his parents (Alex and Kay), and his stepsons Brad and Greg. Cal worked with the Department of Highways as a surveyor for a brief time then joined the CNR. He later became a dispatcher where he remained for 39 years. He retired in 1989 to curl in the winter and ride his Harley in the summer. The Harley was the priority but sadly he could not ride through the snow. Cal joined the Shrine in Sioux Lookout in the 60's. Later when he moved to Winnipeg he joined Cycle Escort in 1971 to 2002. He thoroughly enjoyed travelling with his Harley and the Escort every chance he had. Flowers are gratefully declined. If one so wishes, donations can be made to the Alzheimer or Parkinson's societies. Cremation has taken place. A very special thank you to Jules and his staff, Max and Karen. Their care and compassion was outstanding. I could have not done it alone. Another special thank you to the palliative nurses who literally held my hand through some pretty rough decisions. Thank you ladies!! Cal was a faithful friend, an honest person and above all a gentle man through everything. He will be sorely missed. Cal will be laid to rest at Thomson in the Park on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Sleep well my love. You have deserved it. I love you hon.
