MYKOLA (NICK) SUPRUN (published on September 09, 2011)

MYKOLA (NICK) SUPRUN Following a lengthy illness, Mykola (Nick) Suprun passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Holy Family Home. Mykola was born on December 17, 1923 in the village of Kozatske, Konotop Rayon, Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. As a young boy, Mykola survived the 1932-33 Holodomor in Ukraine, a genocidal famine organized by Soviet communists and directed against the Ukrainian nation. Mykola was predeceased by his parents Petro and Stepania, two sisters Maria and Ulana, two younger brothers Vasyl and Sashko; his son Morris and his wife Iwanna (Jean). Also mourning his passing are, his niece Halyna and her family in Ukraine; daughters Florence and Teresa; sons Nick, Bohdan (Bobby) and Marko; daughter-in-law, Ulana; sons-in-law John and Taras; grandchildren Markiana, Beauregard, Thomas, Tamara and Candice; great-grandchildren Jack, Jessica, Avery and Jonathan and a large extended family of friends in Canada, the United States and Ukraine. Prayer service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Funeral Rite will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Metropolitan Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 1175 Main St. with the Very Reverend Hryhorij Mielnik officiating. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Babick for the dedicated, devoted and loving care he had for Mykola and the compassion he showed for the family. The family also expresses their sincere thanks to the caring staff at Holy Family Home, the Ladies Auxiliary, Pastoral Care, the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate and the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral Outreach members.
