CONSUELO MACARAEG (published on September 09, 2011)

CONSUELO MACARAEG Consuelo (Connie) Cacanindin Macaraeg peacefully passed away at her home in Quezon City, Philippines at the age of 91 years. On January 9, 1920, Consuelo was born in Aringay, La Union, Philippines to Felipe and Andrea Cacanindin. In 1940, Consuelo married Vicente Macaraeg in La Union. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Vicente in 1976, and her son Mario (Clarina) in April 2011. She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Cris (Nora) and Aurelio; two daughters Solema and Marilyn; eight grandchildren: Marites, Catherine, Vicente, Maricar, Ion, Che Che, Kristin, and Michael; and ten great-grandchildren. In the summer of 1976, Consuelo moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba under the sponsorship of her son, Cris and his wife Nora. Mama helped take care of her grandchildren, Kristin and Michael, while Cris and Nora worked during the days. After spending 25 great years in Winnipeg, she moved back to the Philippines. Mama will be remembered for her remarkable sewing skills, spending afternoons playing solitaire with soap operas playing in the background, and as an avid baseball fan. She had a sweet humour, filling the home with love and joy. Connie was an active member of the Filipino Original Seniors Group of Winnipeg, where she acted as Treasurer for a number of years. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Loyola Memorial Park Cemetery in Marikina, Philippines.
