TILLIE MAZEPA (published on September 09, 2011)

TILLIE MAZEPA Peacefully, on September 6, 2011, Mother passed away at Holy Family Home, just shy of her 96th birthday. Mother will be missed by her three children, Fred (Joan), Maryann, Walter Jr. (Cheryl); grandchildren Michael, Bryce and Blake; brother-in-law Nick Malegus; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1975; sisters, Ann Panaschuk, Pearl Mazur, Rose Kulchisky, Mary Rudnicki, Sophie Malegus and Olga Charney and infant brother John Citulski. Mother was born in Rossdale, Manitoba on September 28, 1915. She grew up on the family farm with her sisters and attended Rossdale School until finances dictated she go to work to help support the family. Mother worked in Winnipeg and Toronto. Shortly after the war, Mother met Dad and they were married October 18, 1947. Together they, along with the family, enjoyed summers at the cottage in Grand Beach and countless Sundays after Church at her sisters' farms. Mother loved spending time with her sisters and the passing of each sister left a void in her life. She loved traveling, especially going to Hawaii with sister, Mary Rudnicki. Mother was a devoted wife, a gentle and caring mother and special Baba who was on call forever. She was an excellent cook and her home was headquarters for all holidays. Mother loved and knew all her sports. The Bombers, BlueJays, Jets and Maple Leafs were her favourites and she never missed a game. We wish to thank the nursing staff and Sisters on St. Mary's Ward at Holy Family Home for their extraordinary care and devotion to Mother in her final days, and to Dr. Taras Babick for overseeing those final days. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday, September 10 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. where Mother was a lifelong member. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandson, Michael Mazepa, Doug Rudnicki, John Rudnicki, Steve Malegus, Larry Charney and Harry Panaschuk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave. Winnipeg, R2V 2S5. VICHNAYA PAMYAT KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
