DONNA MARIE LAVOIE (published on September 10, 2011)

DONNA MARIE LAVOIE Donna Marie Lavoie passed away on August 24, 2011 in Brandon, Manitoba. Donna was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba; a daughter to a miner who loved the outdoors. Her childhood at the lake instilled a love for nature that Donna would have her whole life. Donna attended early school years in Flin Flon and St. Charles Convent in Winnipeg, returning to Flin Flon to complete high school. Donna earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Winnipeg and a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Manitoba. She loved learning and during this time she discovered the world and friends that would become family and friends for a lifetime. Donna's passion for learning became her vocation, always bringing her new ideas to a career teaching and counseling youth. She took special pleasure in being part of young peoples' lives, and helping them find their future. On October, 1987, Donna married Dick Vreeman and soon after would join her husband at the Greenspot into bringing her love of new, different and beautiful things to their life everyday. Donna valued family, friends and being together in beautiful places. Some of her favourite memories were from time spent together at Lake Athapap, Clear Lake, Maui, The Greenspot and home. Donna will be sadly missed by her husband, Dick Vreenam and leaves to mourn many friends and extended family. Donna was predeceased by her father, Leo Lavoie and her mother, Connie Lavoie. In keeping with Donna's encouragement for a chemical free environment, friends who wish may make a donation in her memory to an organization for the promotion of a chemical free environment or to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
