FRANCES JACKQUOLINE SABOURIN (published on September 13, 2011)

FRANCES JACKQUOLINE SABOURIN (nee PORTEOUS) Peacefully, with her family by her side, Frances Sabourin passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Frances was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude and James Porteous; husband Paul Sabourin; sons, Paul Sabourin and Roger Sabourin; and daughter Michelle Dumas. Frances is survived by her brothers, Pat (Evelyne) and Carl; daughter Marie (Lyn); Denis (Barb); Cathy (Bob); Angie; and Maurice (Bev); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Frances was born October 8, 1923 in Ashern, MB, the oldest of three children. She joined the Army at the age of 16 where she met Daddy. Mom and Dad were married on July 16, 1943 in Portage la Prairie, MB. They began their life together and went on to raise eight children who provided them with many great memories and many grey hairs. She enjoyed the arrival of the many grandchildren and great-grand-children who continued to bring a smile to her face every time she saw them. Mum worked numerous jobs over the years but settled at Sears Polo Park as the Assistant Manager of Security for approximately 25 years. Mom and Dad built the cottage at Bird Lake, MB and spent the summers there with the children making many more memories for all the family to cherish. Mum moved to Lion's Manor in 2009 and looked forward to her weekly tea parties with her two grandsons, Mason and Morgan and daily visits with her dog Boo. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of the Supportive Living Unit at Lions Manor and the caring and experienced staff of St. Boniface Hospital who provided kind and compassionate care to Mom that allowed her to pass with dignity and grace. Mom is now at peace with Daddy and her children who are all together once again. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald Street, Winnipeg. Interment of her cremated remains will follow at the St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad, (in support of education and research for prostate cancer), in care of Winnipeg Police Association, 70 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J8. LECLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
