GERALDINE JOAN SENESHEN (published on September 13, 2011)

GERALDINE JOAN SENESHEN (nee PAWLYSHYN) Geraldine Seneshen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Grace Hospice at the age of 79 years. She was born in St. Boniface to Michael and Pauline Pawlyshyn. She attended elementary and middle school in Norwood and Gordon Bell High School in Winnipeg. In high school she expressed her musical talents by either playing the violin or singing in the chorus of many Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. After high school she attended the Manitoba Institute of Technology where she obtained her secretarial skills that led to her being employed for a number of years by the Federal Department of Fisheries. In later years she enjoyed working at the cosmetic counter of Eaton's in Polo Park. In 1953 she married Peter Seneshen and they made their home in various parts of Winnipeg and then settled in Charleswood. To them were born four children, Terry, Valerie, and the twins, David and Darlene. Her love and concern for her children and grandchildren guided her life. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Baba. Gerry was a lifelong Ukrainian Catholic who was involved with the U.C.W.L. at St. Basil's, where she received her 40 year membership pin. She was also a member of the church choir where her strong alto voice contributed to the beauty of the liturgy. In retirement she enjoyed her home and family. Her door was always open to them and they enjoyed her delicious meals and wonderful baking. Left to cherish her memory are Peter, her beloved husband of 58 years, son Terry, daughter Valerie Musgrove (Jack), son David (Amy), daughter Darlene Vereb (Stan), grandchildren Michael, Sarah, and Mark Seneshen, Andrew and Dylan Musgrove, Kate and Emma Seneshen, Shawn, Daniel and Michael Vereb, and her sister Donna Bott (Alexander), as well as several relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents. The family would like to express its gratitude to the staff at Grace Hospice. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Basil's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St. with Father Walter Klimchuk and Father Isidore Dziadyk officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospice, 260 Booth Drive, Winnipeg. Vichnaya Pamyat Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
