THOMAS FREDERICK SINCLAIR (published on September 14, 2011)

THOMAS FREDERICK SINCLAIR June 16, 1945 - September 10, 2011 It is with profound sadness that the family announces the unexpected death of Tom at the Grace Hospital on Saturday, September 10, 2011. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, John Sinclair (Deborah), Michael Sinclair (Norma), sister Sheila Sinclair Toni, nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. Tom was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Tom was predeceased by his father, Jack Sinclair (1960), his mother Lillian Sinclair (1992) and his sister, Judy Sinclair (2004). Tom spent his formative years growing up in the Crescentwood area of Winnipeg forming many and lasting friendships after attending St. Ignatius and John Brebeuf Schools and St. Paul's College graduating in 1963. He attained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from the University of Manitoba and then set off to obtain his Doctorate in Microbiology from the Chicago Medical School in 1970. Tom spent 15 years in Chicago engaged in cancer research, returning to Winnipeg each Christmas, and regaled his family and friends with the antics of his super chicken which resisted every form of cancer known at the time. He also began his own business in paternal distinction. He returned to Manitoba and worked at the University of Manitoba in research. He found a meaningful and lasting relationship with Carol Preston until her untimely death at 56. After Carol's death he worked with his brother's law firm in the accounting aspect of the firm until his death. He, as a doctor of Microbiology, entered the hospital with an undiagnosed infection on July 16, 2011 and seemed to be recovering from his malady when he relapsed suddenly on September 10, 2011 and passed on to be with his beloved Carol. Tom was a kind and gentle man who thoughtfully dealt with all his problems and those of his family and friends. Never judgmental, he quickly endeavoured to find a solution and was cheerful when he succeeded. His community was important to him and he was active in areas where he believed he could help and he succeeded. Unassuming, he worked at mending problems to assist many who needed his help. He had a deep feeling for his fellow man and he suffered their sorrow with them quietly and sought solutions which often worked to the gratitude of all who knew him. He was the consummate loyal sibling to his brothers and sisters and he missed Judy very much after her death in 2004. He truly will be loved and missed. God bless you Tom. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Brebeuf Roman Catholic Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place at Lanark Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba with Rev. Fr. Fred Olds officiating. Funeral Home and Crematorium 774-7474 Condolences:
