JUDITH MARIANNE MCRAE (published on September 14, 2011)

JUDITH MARIANNE MCRAE July 29, 1945 - September 11, 2011 After a short struggle with cancer our beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital. On July 3, 2011 Mom and Dad celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. Like many other anniversaries Dad was on the road and Mom was at home. Mom also celebrated her 66th birthday on July 29. Judith was born on July 29, 1945 at the Winnipeg General Hospital. She lived in Bissett, Lee River, Netley and finally settling in Selkirk. Mom worked at Oscars as a waitress. In 1962 she began her career as a psychiatric nursing assistant at the S.M.H.C a career that lasted 37 years retiring in 2009. Judith loved to knit, sew and cross-stitch. She shared her love of knitting and cross stitching by teaching several of her co-workers the craft. Judith enjoyed attending hockey and baseball games for her son Trevor. Judith is survived by her loving husband Wayne; children Jo-Ann and Trevor; sisters Brenda and Linda (Mike); sisters-in-law Bev and family, Dianne (Bill) and family; nieces and nephews Jennifer (Jason), Kenneth, Michael (Rita and family), Kristin; her special great- nieces Ariana, Reggi, Teyah, Peyton and Coral. Mom had a special spot in her heart for a very special young lady, Jennifer and her parents Erika and Gerry. She was predeceased by her parents Jennie and Alfon; in-laws Victoria and Borden; brother-in-law Reg. The family wishes to thank Drs. Demsas, Anozie, Zoppa, Elbardisy and Sakla for the excellent care provided to Mom while in the hospital. The nursing staff and nurse managers (Odette and Rebecca) on the Surgical and Medical wards. Our thanks to all and an extra special thanks to Jodi, Angela, Eleanor and Tanya. Also a special thank you to Sharon and the palliative care staff that visited Mom so often during her stay. At Judith's request cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Selkirk General Hospital Palliative Care. We are not going to say goodbye to our wife, mom, sister and friend because she will live on in our hearts. We will always treasure our memories of her. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
