ROBERT DOUGLAS MACQUARRIE (published on September 17, 2011)

ROBERT DOUGLAS MACQUARRIE February 28, 1941 - September 8, 2011 It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Bob MacQuarrie on September 8, 2011 after a battle with cancer. Bob is survived by his wife, Pat; his sons Scott (Kelly) and Mark (Shawna); his grandsons Darian, Zachary and Mason; his brother James (Roz) from Australia. He was predeceased by his parents James and Pearle. Bob and Pat were married for 45 years and looking forward to many more at the lake. Bob was born in Hartland, New Brunswick to James and Pearl MacQuarrie. He attended school there and worked as a teen and then when he was 19 joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He was stationed in Newfoundland, was on the Musical Ride where he met his wife and worked many places in Manitoba including Winnipeg, Carman, Arborg, Ashern, Winnipeg Beach, and Selkirk from which he retired. Bob developed a love of the outdoors at an early age. He was the true hunter and fisherman spending as much time as was possible with his sons who also have these positions. He recently made two trips to Whitehorse, Yukon where he and Scott went bison and moose hunting and were successful. He was looking forward to going on another hunt this fall. He and Mark frequently went deer or chicken hunting around Manitoba. When he retired, Bob and Pat left Selkirk and moved to Bakers Narrows near Flin Flon and he built a beautiful home on the lake which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was able to go fishing whenever he wanted. This was the ultimate retirement place. Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Online condolences or to light a Life Candle may be made at www.dadsonfuneralhome.com. Northern Manitoba's only crematorium, Dadson Funeral Home Crematorium of Flin Flon, Manitoba was entrusted with the arrangements. 1-877-460-2444
