WALLY RADEMAKER (published on September 17, 2011)

WALLY RADEMAKER Peacefully, on September 15 at the age of 100 years, Wally Rademaker went to be with her beloved Lord and Saviour. Born in 1911 in Olgino Russia, she was the eldest child of Alexander and Johanna Fast. At age 13, she emigrated to Berlin. She completed schooling and worked at a large bank where she met John Rademaker. After emigrating to Canada in 1928, John came a year later and they were married in Tofield, Alberta in 1932. They eventually located to Winnipeg where they ran Swano Soap Manufacturing. Mom was always involved along with the three boys, making home deliveries to customers. In 1956, Mom and Dad accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and began a time of service which would last their entire lifetime. Located on Gordon Avenue in Winnipeg, the boys all went to MBCI and the business flourished. Mom was always together with Dad for the activities and automobile trips to visit family and friends. In 1995, Dad passed away and Mom moved into an apartment where she began a new life of interaction with old friends, reading, writing her life story and watching the growth of her family. In 2009, she moved into an elder care facility, eventually relocating to Concordia Place which she enjoyed very much. She enjoyed a wonderful celebration of her 100th birthday in February where she visited with many friends that she hadn't seen for a long time. Mom and Dad's motto was always To God be the Glory. They lived this out fully by being available to all with needs, telling others often about their Saviour and devoting their time to a number of organizations, most notably Youth For Christ. They dedicated many hours and days in the service of their Lord. Mom is predeceased by her mother and father, husband John, sisters Ortrud, Johanna, Theodora, and brother Manfred. She is survived by sister Irene of Eisenach Germany, sons John (Violet) of Oakbank, Manitoba, Fred (Donna) of Evanston Illinois, and Bill of East St. Paul Manitoba. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa and Concordia Place for their excellent care for Mom. We also thank many friends who came to visit over the last few years. Viewing on Sunday September 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St. Winnipeg. Funeral at Salem Community Church, 691 Alexander Avenue, Winnipeg on Monday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St., West St. Paul, MB. Donations to Youth For Christ or MBCI in lieu of flowers greatly appreciated.
