RONALD WILLIAM EVANS (published on September 19, 2011)

RONALD WILLIAM EVANS May 27, 1932 - September 16, 2011 In loving memory of Ron Evans who passed away peacefully September 16, 2011. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Yvette; his children, Maxine (Stewart Dale), Ted (Amy Pang), Ronda (Ron Eros), Nancy (JoAnn Rasmussen), Neil Havers, Darryl Havers (Lori Sangha), Jackie (Rob Saurette), Doug Wiebe, Jeff Wiebe (Kathy). He is the loving grandfather of James (Rachel), Rob (Sonica), Richard (Nicole), Jon, Ashley, Paul, Ryan, Nicole (Pete), Sean, Kevin (Sarah), Lisa (Bryan), and Jordyn; and great-grandfather of Adrien, Caleb, Madeleine, Alex and Amber. Ron is survived by his sister Audrey Slinn (Norm). He was predeceased by his first wife Doreen (Morrison); his parents, Marion and Walter Evans; and his brothers, Walter (Bud) and Marvin. Ron was born in Flin Flon, grew up and married Doreen in Killarney and they enjoyed 32 years raising Dale, Ted, Ronda and Nancy. With Ron's career with Manitoba Hydro, he and Doreen lived in many Manitoba communities and the longest being in Morris and Letellier. Ron was always involved in community activities, especially implementing and improving recreation facilities. Sports were always a joy in his life with main interests being hockey, baseball and golf; first as a player, later refereeing and coaching hockey, and then as an enthusiastic supporter of his grandchildren's activities and a couch coach of TV teams. After Doreen's passing, Ron again found happiness with his marriage to Yvette Wiebe and their families blended as one. Ron retired from Manitoba Hydro after 37 years and he and Yvette spent many happy years between their homes in Lac du Bonnet and Arizona. He found such joy in the friendships they made and time spent playing golf and baseball in both places. Ron loved having his family around him and looked forward to the fun of family gatherings such as our annual weekend at the lake and Xmasgiving. The family are very grateful for the care and compassion shown to Ron and his family by all of the staff at 5 South at Victoria General Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Haggard, Dr. Munsamy and Dr. Cavers. The funeral will take place Tuesday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morris United Church, in Morris. Following the service his ashes will be interred at the Morris Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1M4. Arrangements are entrusted to son, Jeff Wiebe. Morris Funeral Home 204-746-2451 Toll Free 1-866-746-2451 www.morrisfuneralhome.ca
