JOHN DAVID HINTSA (published on September 20, 2011)
JOHN DAVID HINTSA At home, in the presence of family, after a recent diagnosis of cancer which he faced with the same dignity and courage that he confronted other trials in his life. Beloved husband of Arlene, loving father of Rachel (Olivier), Montreal, and David, dear brother of Roy (Joan), Toronto, and Marilyn, Toronto, uncle/great-uncle to nieces and a nephew. John enjoyed a diverse career: partner with Woods Gordon Management Consultants, senior management positions in the public and private sectors, executive director of law firms in Halifax and Winnipeg. He believed it was important to give back to his community and volunteered wherever he lived. Since 1999, he was active in Westminster Housing Society Inc., a non-profit charitable corporation that provides good, quality housing to lower income tenants - some of whom have mental health challenges - at rental rates they can afford. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, and to further the cause John believed was important, donations may be made to Westminster Housing Society Inc., c/o S.A.M. (Management) Inc., 425 Elgin Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1P2. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave., Winnipeg, with a memorial service in Toronto at a later date. The family wishes to thank Dr. F. Sikora, Dr. A. Bryk, the staff of St. Boniface Hospital and the Palliative Home Care Team for their compassion and care.
