EDITH IRENE SEABORN (published on September 21, 2011)

EDITH IRENE SEABORN It is with great joy and thanksgiving that we announce our Mother's passing on September 17, 2011. Mom lived a full 102 years and was eager to go on to her next life with Jesus Christ and her loving God. We give thanks that Mom was mentally clear, full of wisdom and advice, and maintained her sense of humour until the very last days. She was looking forward to joining Jack Seaborn, her loving husband of 56 years, and her parents Mary and Newt Gardiner, her sister Ina Peglar and her son-in-law Jim Groat. She was sorry to leave her daughters Jackie Groat, Audrey Hill and son-in-law Doug Hill, and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Over the past years she was able to enjoy many visits from the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom loved to read, do crosswords and cross-stitch. She learned to drive after she was 50 and at 55 began a full-time career at Burns Foods. Mom bowled until she was into her 80s and played bridge until she was 101. Mom and Dad travelled for a number of years before Dad's passing in 1987. Mom lived an active 12 years at Lions Place and was thankful for the extra care provided by the home care staff as her health failed. In August 2010 she was accepted into Jocelyn House, there she enjoyed and appreciated the warm and caring staff, the volunteer visits and being able to sit outside in the Spring, Summer and Fall. A special thanks to Dr. Crawford who took time on Christmas Day to visit her - he made her day. Mom you have left us with many happy memories and stories to share. Go in Peace. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Joclyn House, 177 Egerton Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 2W7 or a charity of your choice.
