PEGGY SEARLE (published on September 22, 2011)

PEGGY SEARLE March 4, 1927 - September 20, 2011 With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Peggy, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. After a brief illness, surrounded by her family, she is finally at peace. Peggy will forever be remembered by her children Suzanne (John Hoogstraten), Hart (Brenda), Paul, Matthew (Pierre Villeneuve) and her grandchildren Rachael Hoogstraten Searle, Michal and Andrea Searle, Miriam, Esther and Jonathan Searle, Celene Carey. Peggy will also be greatly missed by her sister Cynthia Coop, sisters-in-law Sally Bookbinder and Bobbi Searle, and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was predeceased by Jack, her devoted husband of fifty-nine years, her parents Laura and Ben Bookbinder and brother Sidney Bookbinder. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Peggy graduated as a registered nurse from the Winnipeg General Hospital in 1949. She worked for many years in acute care in Winnipeg. In 1976, Peggy became the Assistant Warden of Health Care Services in Manitoba for Federal Corrections. She retired from health care in 1991. Peggy and Jack had resided since 2004 at the Manors of Garrison Woods in Calgary where they had many friends. Peggy was well known for her keen intelligence, professional competence, love of literature, jazz music, particularly Oscar Peterson, her dog Stephanie, cat Bootsie, and the family cottage in Gimli, Manitoba. At Peggy's request there will be no funeral. If so desired, donations may be made directly in Peggy's name to Carewest Sarcee Hospice, 3504 Sarcee Rd.
