MARIE-JEANNE NORMAND (published on September 26, 2011)

MARIE-JEANNE NORMAND (nee GAGNON) Surrounded by the love of the family she created, Marie-Jeanne Normand passed through this world to the arms of her waiting husband. Born in Winnipeg on March 17, 1927, to Jean-Marie and Marie Rose Gagnon, Marie grew up in the city. She married her lifelong partner Elie on November 4, 1944, and moved to Kenora where they raised their two children. She filled our world with gentle humour, firm faith and a zest for life. Her open heart made her a mom, grandma, and great-grandmother to many beyond her own home. Her life was love. Gifted by her love was her husband Joseph Elie Normand (July 5, 1910 to June 23, 2003) and their children, George Normand (Priscilla), Gerry Normand (Nan), Renée Peterson (Len) and her other daughter, Carol Henley; her grandchildren, George, Wilma Lee, Gerard, Robert (Tammy), Tracey (Dwayne), David, Christopher, (Buffy), Jeffrey (Leslie), Laurie (Brendan), Laura (Pat), James (Melanie), Joseph, Verena, Veronica and Shayne who enjoyed hours of chats, games and treats with grandma. The newest generation to delight Marie were the great-grandchildren, Sean, Emily, Russel, Brie, Alisha, Chris, Winter, Skylar, Rae Lynn, Melissa, Brayden, Jayden, Kristin, Kaylee, Reid, Evret, Hunter, Jewel and Zoe. She will be missed by her siblings Gerry (Lee), Yvonne (Wally), Louise (Laurent), Florence and their families. We have all been blessed by Marie-Jeanne Normand in our lives. Mom never would say goodbye. So long for now. Viewing and funeral mass will be held at the St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, located at 912 Superior Street Keewatin, Ontario, on Wednesday, September 28 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will take place on Thursday, September 29 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, located at 357 Des Meurons Street in Winnipeg from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Donations to the Cancer Society in her name are encouraged. Condolences may be sent to www.desjardinsfuneralchapel.ca DESJARDINS 233-4949 1-888-233-4949
