PAT ROBERTS (published on September 28, 2011)

PAT ROBERTS 1927 - 2011 Peacefully and bravely, Pat Roberts (nee Burns) quietly slipped out on her final journey Saturday afternoon, September 17 with a dear friend at her side. Pat was fondly known as the Energizer Bunny to most of us with her boundless energy, right to the end, and an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her quick wit and twinkling eyes earned her many friends who will miss her, and the fellowship they shared. Mom was graced with a natural ability and a passion for competition that would see her win many races and tournaments in paddling, basketball, swimming, downhill skiing from a young girl through to a young at heart octogenarian. Her creative abilities included needlework, sewing, baking, photography for which she won awards. She was active with many organizations throughout her life: Dominoes Basketball Club, Kildonan Canoe Club, Rossmere Bowling, Lifetime Member of Sweet Adelines, Harbourview and Kildonan Golf Clubs, MSOS, Cardinal Mom's, Swim MB, EK-YMCA, Springhill Silver Streaks Ski Club, Tupperware Canada, the gang at the lake , just to name a few. Mom will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Tracy (Paul), grandkids Brent and Gillian; stepbrother Bill (Joanne); sisters-in-law Corinne, Jewel, Ruth, Wilma, Bernice; her nieces and nephews whom she cherished; embraced daughters Bobbie and Cheryl. Pat was predeceased by her loving and adoring husband Eric Roberts, parents Llewellyn and Gertrude (Barker) Burns, brother James, infant sister MarySue, the Roberts brothers-in-law Herb, Don, Ken and Albert. Mom expressed how grateful she was for all the wonderful and compassionate care she received at Riverview Health Centre from her 3East Palliative team; her health care professional teams at St. Boniface Hospital, Wards 7E and 7W; Doctors J. Gingerich, B. Yip, and E. St. Godard; and her homecare team. Some of Mom's requests: in lieu of flowers, please donate to CancerCare Manitoba, Riverview Health Centre, or a charity of your choice. The service for Pat will be Saturday, October 1, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Please do not wear black to her service; live every day like you mean it.
