DAPHNE OLIPHANT (published on October 01, 2011)

DAPHNE OLIPHANT 1910 - 2011 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing at Concordia Place of Daphne Oliphant (nee Davis) at the age of 101. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Daphne was predeceased by her parents Walter and Clara Davis; husband Robert; four brothers and three sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Barclay (Dianna); grandson Craig; and sister Patricia (Jack) Smith. Daphne was a lifetime member of the I.O.F. Court Shining Star, as was her husband Robert (Bob) who served on the Executive Board and where they made many close friends over the years. Daphne was a Cub Scout leader for 17 years at St. Matthews Anglican Church. Many an enjoyable summer was spent at the cottage at Whytewold Beach barbequing and enjoying the companionship of good friends. The family would like to express their thanks for the care and compassion shown to Daphne by the staff during her stay at Concordia Place, and also to friends Patti Page and Lee and Jerry Gagnon for the kindness and support they gave Daphne. Graveside service and reception will be held on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Daphne's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2.
