THEODORE (TED) ANDREW GALAYDA (published on October 01, 2011)

THEODORE (TED) ANDREW GALAYDA On Wednesday, September 28 2011, Theodore Andrew Galayda, Ted, son of Agnes and John, brother of Robert, passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Born on October 5, 1969, Ted entered this world with Neurofibromatosis, and continued to battle it all his life. Despite all his disadvantages, Ted attended school at both Polson elementary, and Kildonan East Collegiate, where his reading and writing skills were augmented from the teachings of mom and dad, and taken to their highest possible level, by the wonderful staff. Ted was happy, loved to play ball, go for car rides to Lockport, make jigsaw puzzles, work on the computer, and work alongside other disabled adults at East Side Thames, and E.P.I.C, doing contract work for Blockbuster Video, Rogers Video, Sterling Glove, the Winnipeg Public Library and Winnipeg Harvest, among many others. Ted was a gentle soul, he loved to sit outside and always said hi to everyone he met, greeted all with a big hug and handshake, and somehow made everyone's day a little brighter. Ted touched many lives and was helped by people in three countries from Manitoba, to the Mayo Clinic, to Mexico. Visionary physicians and surgeons always managed to find a better way to help our Ted. Family, friends, neighbours and a few strangers that along the way became close friends, everyone who ever met Ted, gave constant and unwavering support to both him and our family as a whole. We thank you all, for 42 years of support, when we needed it most, and expected it the least. You are all wonderful people. Our family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, in the P.A.C.U and Step Down units, that provided Ted with the best care humanly possible, and made his passing both humane, and dignified. A special thank you to nurse Mindy who came in when she didn't have to, so that she would care for Ted personally, in his final hours. Your commitment to the care and final dignity of our Theodore shall not be forgotten. Ted is with God and the angels in heaven, free from the shackles of this world, where disabilities and diseases have no voice. He is playing with our beloved dog Bandit , and listening to stories from his grandparents, while dwelling in the house of the lord. We love you, we miss you, and we will see you when we are done here. Love Mom, Dad, and Robert. Memorial service will be held at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Highway, Winnipeg, on Tuesday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, a small donation to EPIC Opportunities would be welcomed. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson Hwy. 338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com
