HAZEL DOROTHY CLARK (published on October 01, 2011)

HAZEL DOROTHY CLARK It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Dorothy Clark (nee Jones) at the age of 87 on September 7, 2011 in New Westminster, BC. Hazel was born in Winnipeg on December 28, 1923 and is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Nancy Scott (Ted), grandson, Michael King, sister Audrey Tilley (Ray), sister-in-law Eleanor Danchuk and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was predeceased by her son Jamie in 1989, parents, Mary (Halkett-Gavine) and Albert Alexander Jones, stepmother Harriett Jones, and brother-in-law Nestor (Danny) Danchuk. Hazel lived a rich, full and active life. Growing up in St. Vital, she attended Glenwood School and Glenlawn Collegiate. Upon graduation, Hazel began working at the Hudson Bay Company until her marriage to Jim on September 4, 1948. Hazel excelled at most of her endeavours, whether it was skating at the Winnipeg Roller Rink as a young woman, square dancing for most of her adult life or working on her beloved crafts. Hazel's positive attitude and fun loving spirit was illustrated by her arrival to her 80th birthday party on her original and thankfully refurbished roller skates. Hazel and Jim moved to Vancouver in the early 1960s and dearly loved their new home, but returned to Winnipeg often to visit family and friends. A celebration of Hazel's life took place on September 12 at Como Lake United Church in Coquitlam, BC where Hazel was an active member for nearly 50 years. Hazel's family would like to thank Sharron Jones, Linda Lemay and Delia Bizzutto for all of their love and support over the past years. Interment will take place at a later date.
