VERA KATHLEEN GALLOWAY (published on September 27, 2008)

VERA KATHLEEN GALLOWAY (nee ADAMS) Vera Kathleen Galloway passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2008 at Golden Door Geriatric Centre in Winnipeg. She was 86 years old and a longtime resident of Golden Door. Vera lived in Winnipeg all her life in the west end at 1097 Garfield St. as a youngster, and on Gallagher Ave. and 1322 Downing St. with her husband Dave and daughter Judy. She attended Principal Sparling School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. Vera worked at Parkhill Bedding and the Hudson's Bay Company. She spent many wonderful weekends and summer holidays at Lake Brereton at the Caldwell's cottage, and at Lac du Bonnet. Vera's husband, Dave, worked all his life for the British American Oil Company which then became Gulf Oil. Their only child, Judy Moore, is a teacher in Lloydminster, AB after having lived in La Ronge, SK for many years. Judy also attended Principal Sparling, Daniel Mac, and Education IA - U of M. Vera is survived by grandchildren, David Davis (Cheryl) of Calgary; Chelsea Moore of Saskatoon and Tyler Moore of Lloydminster / Saskatoon, and great-granddaughter Bryn of Calgary; several nieces and nephews, brother-in-law James Galloway of St. Catharine's, ON; half-sister Ruth Dixon of Las Vegas and half-brother Gilbert Adams. Vera was predeceased by her husband David Galloway in 1983; parents, Frederick and Martha Adams; and sisters, Gladys, Thelma, Doris and Joan. A special thank you to Golden Door Geriatric Centre for the understanding, patient and friendly care Vera was given by the staff. They truly are amazing. A special thank you goes to Diane Campbell Page of Winnipeg, a lifetime friend of Judy and the Galloway's. Cremation has taken place at Kilcollins Cremation Service; and interment will take place at a later date.
