DWIGHT REGINALD (REG) CUMMING (published on January 24, 2009)

DWIGHT REGINALD (REG) CUMMING Suddenly, in his room in Deer Lodge Centre, on January, 22, 2009, Reg Cumming went to his final rest at the age of 59. Reg will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gladys Catherine; his children Kirk (Miyuki), Andrew (Jen) and Yvette (Ken); and his sisters Grace (Don), and Sharon (Russell). He will be missed by his grandchildren Lisa, Robin, Brigitte and Hugo, who were very dear to him, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews. Reg was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Sarah, and his father-in-law Emil Protosavage, and sister-in-law Gloria Rempel. He was a kind and giving person, who believed passionately in social justice. Happiest when he was helping someone, Reg was devoted to the cause of blood donation, making over two hundred donations in his life, as well as volunteering his time every week. Spending as much time as he could in the Canadian outdoors was important to him, camping with his family, fishing, hunting and walking with his dogs Rex and Emily. He was a loving and caring father, grandfather, and uncle. Reg travelled to Scotland in 2000, and often spoke of his desire to return one day. The following poem by Robbie Burns was one that was especially meaningful to him. Farewell to the Highlands, Farewell to the North, The birth-place of Valour, The country of Worth; Wherever I wander, wherever I rove, The hills of the Highlands for ever I love. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at Thomson Funeral Home and all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Blood Services, 1-888-236-6283. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 BROADWAY, WINNIPEG, MB R3C OX4 783-7211 Send expressions of sympathy at
